Monday Wednesday Lotto is organized by Australian’s Lottoland and was initially called the Monday Lotto, where the draws took place only once a week, each Monday. This caused the estimated jackpot to be lower than today’s top prize, attracting more players with every draw.
About the Monday Wednesday Lotto
In 1984 the Wednesday draw was introduced, but in 1996 was changed to Thursday before returning to Wednesday when the Powerball Lotto game was launched.
Originally, players who wanted to participate in the Australia Monday & Wednesday Lotto had to choose six numbers from a pool of 40. After some time, the set of numbers was increased to 44 before finally getting to today’s 45.
Before the 1994 launch of Oz Lotto, Monday & Wednesday Lotto was the only lottery game that could be played in New South Wales.
How to play the Monday Wednesday Lotto
To take part in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto, you need to pick six winning numbers from a range of 1 to 45. Additional to that, you need to choose two supplementary numbers. However, unlike other lottery games where main numbers need to be matched along with the complementary numbers, in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto, you win the jackpot by only getting the six numbers correct.
The two supplementary numbers are there to help you win additional prizes in case you don’t win the jackpot.
Monday Wednesday Lotto Drawing Schedule
The official Monday & Wednesday Jackpot draws are held every Monday and Wednesday night and broadcasted at approximately 8:45 pm AEST (9:45 pm AEDT).
Monday Wednesday Lotto Prize Payouts and Odds of Winning
Monday & Wednesday lottery offers a guaranteed jackpot of AU$1.000.000. After each draw, the estimated jackpot does not have a rollover feature. Instead, it starts accumulating all over again. This means that the top prize is never over AU$1.000.000. However, although other lotteries offer millions in prizes, the Monday & Wednesday lottery provides much better chances of winning to make up for it.
With that said, here are the prize divisions and the odds of winning each one:
You get 28% of the pool distribution to match six numbers, and you win the AU$1.000.000 jackpot. The average winner per draw is 0.80, which means every second draw, the jackpot gets drawn. The odds of winning this division is 1 in 8,145,060.
If you match five numbers plus one supplementary, you win AU$7,173.89, which is 3.8% of the pool distribution. The average winner per draw is 11.90, which means there are at least 11 winners of this division every draw. The odds of winning this prize is 1 in 678,755.
Matching five numbers without the supplementary ones will get you AU$504.26 or 8.2% of the pool distribution. The odds of winning this is 1 in 36,689, and on average, there are 250 winners of the prize per draw.
If you match four numbers, you get 12.4% of the pool distribution, and the prize is AU$28.01. The average number of winners per draw is 12,740.90. The odds of winning this division is 1 in 733.
Matching three numbers plus one supplementary will get you AU$16.25 or 20.8% of the pool distribution. The odds of winning this is 1 in 297, and on average there are 30,469.50 winners of the prize per draw.
If you match one plus two supplementary, you win AU$13.72, which is 26.8% of the pool distribution. The average winner per draw is 60,689.70, and the odds of winning this prize is 1 in 144.
