Loteria del Valle is a raffle-based lottery located in Colombia’s Pacific Region, widely played across the country. It remains one of the most popular lottery games, even though it doesn’t offer any secondary games or opportunities to win big beyond the main game. Or maybe that simplicity is the mystery behind the success.
The drawing takes place every Wednesday at 10:30 pm (local time) and is broadcast on regional television. The results are published on the official website of Loteria del Valle almost immediately after the transmission.
To enter the game, you need to buy a ticket for COP 4,000; they are available at authorized distributors as well as online. However, it’s quite usual for Colombian players to buy a set of three tickets (COP 12,000). Each ticket has a unique four-digit number assigned and a series number; the latter is the same for all three tickets if you buy the set. In order to win, all numbers, including the series one, need to be matched.
Loteria del Valle also enables its players to subscribe for 3, 6, 9, or 12 months in advance; this way, you get a discount of up to 15% for a 12-month plan.
Jackpot
The fixed jackpot guaranteed by Loteria del Valle amounts to COP 3.5 billion, and as there are no jackpot rollovers or rolldowns, it rarely gets higher. Special draws only take time once in a while; then, the jackpot increases to COP 5 billion.
Odds and Prizes
As was already mentioned above, Loteria del Valle is a raffle-based lottery. As such, the winning odds are not fixed because they depend on how many tickets have been purchased.
When it comes to prizes, all are at fixed amounts, similarly to the jackpot.
There’s a total of 45 prizes of each drawing, and they come in five tiers:
- COP 3.5 billion for the jackpot winner;
- COP 200 million for the second prize winner;
- COP 100 million for the third prize winner;
- COP 50 million each for 2 fourth prize winners.
- COP 20 million each for 10 fifth prize winners.
- COP 10 million each for 30 sixth prize winners.
Payout and Taxes
If you win in Loteria del Valle, you have 30 days from the day of the draw to claim your prize at the authorized point or from the lottery that made the sale. All prizes are paid in lump sums only. For winnings of 20 million and higher, the winner should go to the offices of the Loterías del Valle.
All prizes are subject to the 17% standard tax under Colombian law. However, it’s a lottery game based in Colombia’s Pacific Region, and if you don’t live there, you will have to pay an additional tax of up to 10%.

According to Colombian law, you must be at least 18 years old to be able to enter the lottery game.
